On this episode Dave & Karl start off with a quick discussion about the Brighton game before moving onto the topics in hand! Firstly the pair create teams of players with their names, we have the team of Dave's vs the team of Karl's! Then for the main event the pair go head to head as Dave is tasked with creating and Ireland XI which is taking on a Relegation XI made by Karl. What would be your teams?
Dave looks though Liverpool news sites for subjects to discuss as the dreaded international break begins! He discusses Alexis Mac Allister, and the Argentine maestro currently being played out of position. He looks at his role at both Brighton and at Liverpool, with the Seagulls playing very different football, and obviously had Caicedo beside Alexis too.Â
Dave also discusses the knock on affect on Dominik as he believes the Hungarian man of the match machine being capable of even more if his defensive burden is lifted even slightly. He also looks at Harvey Elliott's continued role as a midfielder.Â
On the latest Molby On The Spot Trev Downey and Reds legend Jan Molby reflect on the week that was for Liverpool. Jan talks about Klopp's midfield experimentation, with Szoboszlai swopped to accommodate Elliot as a right-sided midfielder and Mac Allister continuing in the 6 role. The lads discuss Endo in this context and Trev asks Jan if he ever had any 'project' players while he was a manager - the answer is both revealing and entertaining. There is a chat about the ongoing Trent experiment and whether or not Joe Gomez should have started for this particular game and the lads reflect on one point from six in the wake of other results in the Premier League. Jan gives his opinion on Roberto De Zerbi as a manager and this leads into a conversation about Manchester United, Ten Haag and the dearth of truly great managers in the current era. Trev and Jan assess the next batch of games after the international break and there's a high degree of optimism that it can be a productive period for Klopp's men and Jan tells Trev about his night out with Ian Rush, Jimmy White and Alex Higgins when all of them were in their 80s pomp.
Dave looks back at Sunday's game against Brighton as the reds draw with De Zerbi's men. Dave also looks at the defence and the need to evolve, with a look at Trent's role, with a look at perhaps moving the playmaker into midfield, to sure up the defence. He also discusses Robertson, and why Liverpool may need to be looking for a succession plan in the summer.Â
On the latest RAW Trev Downey, Hari Sethi and Dave Hendrick spend a record 103 minutes talking about Brighton 2 Liverpool 2. Yet again, we have more PGMOL incompetence influencing a Liverpool game as Anthony Taylor fails to red card Solly March. Klopp's midfield selection leaves the lads in total confusion. Mac as the 6? Dom on the left? Harvey on the right against a team that loves to attack that flank? Why was Endo withdrawn at half time against Union? Had Gravenberch not earned a start ahead of Elliot? The continued insistence on the Trent experiment seems to have far more downside than up. Brighton were a far more cohesive unit than Liverpool in the first half but Mo Salah proves his class yet again to see the Reds go in ahead. Liverpool had very little by way of response to conceding the equaliser to leave Klopp's men with just one point from six.
In this episode Al and Andrew look at how the challenges LFC have been facing, on and off the pitch, can have a galvanising impact on the squad!

On the latest Molby On The Spot, Trev Downey and Jan Molby discuss the week that was for Liverpool and look ahead at the week to come. Jan gives his verdict on the PGMOL farce and the fallout from the release of the audio. The lads discuss the disappointing tribalism and myopia that followed from the journalists, managers and fans of rival clubs. Trev asks Jan to salvage the positives from the debacle and the focus is on the tremendous display by the Reds in the face of adversity. There's a chat about Joe Gomez and his tentative return to his best form and the lads reflect on Jan's recent chat with Trent Alexander Arnold and what the armband means to him. This, in turn leads to a conversation about Steven Gerrard and the burden of captaincy in English football. Obviously, there's some talk of the win over Union Saint Gilloise and Jan runs the rule over the weekend challenge posed by Brighton as the lads speculate on the likely Reds team to face the Seagulls. All this and a whole lot more!
Dave quickly reflects on last nights win in the Europa League. He then looks at the Spurs situation, as fans and ex-players have asked if the Premier League game was to be replayed, the Champions League final should be replayed, Dave looks where the teams from that night are currently at. He then looks at the news and gossip ahead of the game on Sunday against Brighton.Â
On this episode Dave & Karl preview the upcoming game for Liverpool, as the reds travel to the south coast to take-on Brighton. The pair discuss how Liverpool will approach the game with players missing through injury and suspension, who replaces Curtis in midfield for instance? Do you keep Mac Allister as the 6 and bring in a Elliott or Gravenberch, or do you bring Endo in and push Alexis further forward?Â
They of course look at Brighton in detail as well with Roberto De Zerbi's side coming to terms with midweek Europa action, as the Italian manager rotates his side perhaps too much? They look at the threats and weaknesses of Brighton with their defence falling behind their midfield and attack especially in terms of quality.Â
They then look at Liverpool's game on Thursday, with the Belgian sides rise in football being really impressive, what sort of test will they cause in the Mac Allister derby!? They of course discuss the reds in the aftermath of the Spurs game which may have changed tact for the Europa league with suspensions and injuries potentially causing a rethink for Jurgen Klopp.Â
After a week dominated by debates around VAR in the aftermath of the Spurs debacle last Sunday, the Reds secured a comfortable 2-0 win at home midweek against Union St Gilloise.
Klopp’s side now turn their attention back towards the PL, as they face a stern test this weekend away to Brighton. With both clubs keek to bounce back from defeats last weekend, Sunday’s clash promises to be a feisty affair.
Joining Hari on the pod this week we welcome on Alan Wares from Brighton podcast Albion Roar. Alan shares his perspective on the Seagull’s development under De Zerbi, the departures of Caicedo and MacAllister and where fans expectations lie for the season ahead.
