anfieldindex.com Writers Predictions | 2011/12 Season

So the start of the new season has come around (super fast for us as we've been so busy) and as is usual at this time of year everyone is having their say for the predictions. Thanks to Paul Boyham we have decided to write this article for anfieldindex.com and the writers. So we've...

Player Profile: Luis Suarez

Luis Alberto Suárez Díaz, you may know him as just Luis Suarez or El Pistolero (for the way he celebrates his goals). It seems that as Liverpool fans we just can’t get enough of our £22.8 million playmaker.

Liverpool FC Player Profile: Jordan Henderson

So no doubt everyone has heard about Liverpool Football Club’s newest addition; Jordan Henderson. It was announced on Wednesday 8 June 2011 that a fee has been agreed between Sunderland and Liverpool. This is speculated to be £13m + David Ngog who is valued at £7m.

The Kenny Effect

Who would've thought that we would end the 2010/11 season off fighting for European qualification and having probably the best attacking duo in the Premier League? A look at the effect of Kenny Dalglish

Who do they pass to the most? (Kuyt, Suarez & Lucas)

We were asked a question on our twitter account; Which player is passed the ball the most? It was a question we couldn't answer as we didn't hold these stats. After some analysis and searching we've found some of the answers thanks to the Guardian.co.uk's excellent Chalkboard service which is run by Opta Data (just...

Five Star Strikers: Suarez & Carroll compared to rivals!

This article is a follow up post to our first Striker Comparison: "Strikers: Value for Money? (Suarez, Bent & Torres)" and will be updated every two weeks (weekly if possible) with the latest stats on the five expensive strikers bought in the January transfer window. So we've updated the stats after a two week break (was away on vacation) and there are some changes as both Edin Dzeko and Fernando Torres opened their accounts with their first Premiership goals for their respective clubs.

Suarez & Carroll – Liverpool Vs Sunderland: Eye into future?

Suarez and Carroll. Two signings, for the price of one (well, almost). For weeks, we have waited to see them play together. They have been talked up as the latest little and large combo, many of which we have seen over the years. Due to injury, and ineligability, we have been unable to see this partnership in all it's glory. But against Sunderland, we finally got to see them both, from the start.

A Crazy Few Days… (Written after January Transfer Window)

It was late Thursday night, that the brilliant Tony Barrett, was reporting that Chelsea had made a bid, and we had rejected it. I was sat in work, with a copy of the Times printing another trusted article, while my colleagues had copies of The S*n, Daily Fail, and every other made up story going. I was brushing it under the carpet. We rejected Chelsea's bid, we move on, right? We have been in this situation before, haven't we?

Where the Game was won – Sunderland Vs Liverpool

The first instalment of this feature was a success so we are going to make it into a regular feature every time Liverpool win in the Premier League. The latest game was yesterday's win at the Stadium of Light against, a struggling, Sunderland. Immediately after the game a lot of supporters, myself included, put the win down to a bit of lady luck that went our way after half an hour of the first half. On second thoughts I'd like to change my mind and put it down to a mixture of lady luck, which every team requires, and some very good performances in the Liverpool team.

Liverpool FC Need Wingers…

It’s always hard to calculate transfer costs. Transfer fees can be undisclosed, and additional costs such as agents fees and wages etc are even harder to guess. But despite these obstacles, guesstimates can be made. Looking at the stats we do have, the last four Liverpool FC managers, Gerard Houllier, Rafa Benitez, Roy Hodgson and now Kenny Dalglish, have between them laid out nearly £440 million in transfers, on 172 players. By my count, in total the four of them have laid out £10 million or more on a single player 13 times:
