Liverpool Transfer Latest: Adrien Truffert Link Raises Fresh Questions Over Milos Kerkez Future
Liverpool’s recruitment drive under Andoni Iraola has already reshaped parts of the squad, yet attention is still falling on areas that may require another decisive move. One of those is left-back, where the latest TeamTalk report has added intrigue around Adrien Truffert, Milos Kerkez and the medium-term direction of the position at Anfield.
The broad picture is easy to understand. Liverpool have spent heavily again, with more than £150 million committed during the summer, and that level of investment naturally sharpens scrutiny on every major decision. Under Iraola, there has been a willingness to refresh quickly, and that tends to create pressure on players who have yet to fully establish themselves.
Kerkez is one of those names now under the spotlight. Signed with the expectation that he could become a long-term answer on the left side of defence, the Hungarian has not fully convinced. He remains young and there is obvious room for development, but when a club with Liverpool’s ambitions assesses its squad, potential alone is rarely enough for long.
Adrien Truffert emerges in Liverpool transfer picture
The source report frames Liverpool as one of the clubs closely monitoring Bournemouth full-back Adrien Truffert, alongside Manchester United and other major European sides. The piece states: “Manchester United are expected to face serious competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool, as well as other leading European clubs, for Bournemouth left-back Adrien Truffert.” It adds: “Sources [are] indicating that the France international will be in serious demand ahead of the 2027 transfer windows.”
That information matters because Truffert already carries a Premier League profile and, crucially, a style that appears attractive to elite teams. According to the report, he settled quickly after joining Bournemouth, becoming a regular and offering balance in both phases of play. For any side seeking reliability at full-back, that blend is valuable.

There is also a layer of familiarity to the story. Truffert was recruited by Bournemouth as the replacement for Kerkez, which lends an element of symmetry to the current link. Liverpool have returned to the south coast market before, and when a club believes a player can solve a tactical issue, prior dealings can sometimes help shape future interest.
Milos Kerkez facing pivotal Liverpool period
For Kerkez, this does not automatically seal an exit or demotion. Transfer interest in one player does not always mean immediate displacement for another, particularly when the incumbent is still only 22. However, the report points to a concern that Liverpool are still waiting for consistency following his £40m move.
The original piece goes further on that point, arguing that confidence around Kerkez’s long-term role has weakened because his displays have fallen below expectation. That may sound harsh, but it reflects the standards attached to a club trying to compete for the biggest honours. If Liverpool believe left-back can be upgraded, they are unlikely to ignore the opportunity for long.
There is a practical football argument here too. Iraola’s system places major demands on full-backs, both physically and positionally. They must defend one-against-one situations well, support attacks at the right moments and maintain concentration through transitions. If Liverpool’s staff feel those requirements are being met inconsistently, recruitment becomes a logical next step rather than a dramatic one.
Transfer race could test Liverpool ambition
Any move for Truffert would not be straightforward. The report makes clear that competition is expected to be strong, with several high-level clubs tracking the France international. That normally affects fee, timing and negotiating leverage, especially when a Premier League club holds the player’s contract.
It also means Liverpool would need to decide whether this is a priority pursuit or simply part of wider market monitoring. Elite clubs routinely track multiple options in the same position, and being linked does not necessarily guarantee formal action. Even so, the fact this story has gathered momentum suggests left-back is being looked at seriously behind the scenes.
From Liverpool’s perspective, the significance lies less in the noise of the rumour and more in what it says about squad planning. If Truffert is under consideration, then left-back is clearly not viewed as a settled department. That, in turn, leaves Kerkez entering a crucial stretch where performances may heavily influence whether Liverpool press ahead.
Our View
As a Liverpool supporter, this is one of those reports that makes sense while still feeling a little uncomfortable. On one hand, if the club genuinely believes Adrien Truffert is a better fit for Iraola’s style, then Liverpool have to be ruthless. That is what top clubs do. They identify a weakness, move quickly and try to improve it before it costs them over a full season.
On the other hand, there is still a part of me that wonders whether Milos Kerkez is being judged too early. He is young, he has talent and adapting to Liverpool brings its own pressures. Left-back has been a demanding role for years, and supporters know how hard it is when comparisons to past standards kick in straight away. Not every player settles at the same speed.
The Truffert link feels believable because Liverpool clearly need certainty in key positions, especially if they want to challenge properly. Still, I would not be fully convinced that replacing Kerkez should already be the plan. Healthy competition, yes. Writing him off completely, maybe not yet. Much probably depends on how he responds if he senses the club are seriously exploring the market around him.
