Liverpool striker Divock Origi insists Reds will not be resting on their laurels after last weekend’s Champions League success but instead, they will be going all out for the Premier League title next season.

Origi wrote himself into Liverpool folklore this season with some huge goals for the team even in his limited playing time.

The Belgian international popped up with late winners against Everton and Newcastle United as The Reds pushed Manchester City all the way in the Premier League title race. Origi also scored twice in that unforgettable Champions League semi-final victory over Barcelona at Anfield before then putting the final nail in Spurs’ coffin in the final in Madrid on Saturday night.

As reported on Liverpoolfc.com, Origi admitted that the Premier League is a huge target for Liverpool next season.

“That’s a big goal of ours [the Premier League title], we certainly want to make steps there.

“We have the experience of this year, which we used in the Champions League as well. It would be nice to win the Premier League but for now, we just have to enjoy and analyse what we did, then reset goals for the new season.”

Origi’s heroic exploits during the 2018/19 campaign mean he has earned himself some talks over a new contract and a possible prolonged stay at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp.

“In the next few weeks, we’ll have some talks. I’ll have to sit down with my entourage and see how we can decide the future. For now, I just want to focus on these [international] games and then after the season, we can do that.

“That’s something I want to speak with the club and my entourage [about] internally and then in the future make public what we decide. All the conversations will be between me, the club and my entourage and then hopefully it will be positive in the end.”

Origi’s contribution to Liverpool’s success this season can not be overestimated. He showed himself to be a big-game player, performing when it mattered most. If he is happy to remain part of the Liverpool squad then there are not many other forwards who would be more efficient than Origi when called upon.
