Predicting Liverpool's starting lineup for the Champions League clash with Genk tonight
Liverpool play Belgian side KRC Genk in the Champions League at Anfield tonight. We’ve had a go at predicting Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup for the game.
Joel Matip and Xherdan Shaqiri will miss the game through injury.
Alisson Becker will start in goal for The Reds. Joe Gomez will most likely start alongside Virgil van Dijk in central defence. Dejan Lovren seems to be ahead of Gomez in Klopp’s pecking order at the moment and, therefore, the Croatian international will probably be saved for the Manchester City fixture which is coming up this weekend.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson should start on either side of the back four.
In midfield, Fabinho is likely to feature since he wasn’t used against Aston Villa due to fears of picking up a yellow card and then missing the City game through suspension. The Brazilian will need some minutes under his belt to be in the best possible shape for Sunday’s game as well. James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are likely to make up the rest of the midfield trio.
Divock Origi will probably get the nod to start up front and it could be to rest Sadio Mané. Mohamed Salah looked a small bit off the pace against Villa so he will probably be given 60 or 70 minutes tonight.
Predicted Liverpool lineup (4-3-3) Vs KRC Genk: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Firmino, Origi
