Liverpool and Manchester United face-off at Anfield this Sunday evening in the Premier League. We’ve had a look at Liverpool’s likely lineup for this huge game.
Three senior players returned to full training at Melwood this week for The Reds so Jurgen Klopp will be delighted that his first-team squad is returning to full strength. Those players were Fabinho, Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren. Such has been Joe Gomez’s impressive form in central defence, it’s unlikely he will lose his place to either Matip or Lovren just yet, however. Fabinho is the one most likely to return to the first eleven in the coming weeks. This Sunday, the Brazilian defensive-midfielder will probably have to settle for a place on the bench at most.
James Milner, Naby Keita and Nathaniel Clyne are all ruled out through injury.
Alisson will continue between the sticks with the ‘regular’ back-four of recent league games in front of him. This is, of course, Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back, Andy Robertson on the left and Gomez with Virgil van Dijk in the centre.
Jordan Henderson – fresh from picking up his England Player of the Year award – should play in the ‘6’ role with Gini Wijnaldum and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain just ahead of him.
The front three should be at full strength meaning it will be Mohamed Salah on the right, Roberto Firmino in the middle and Sadio Mané wide left.
