Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool play Shrewsbury Town this Sunday evening in the FA Cup. The Reds are likely to field a much younger starting eleven and we’ve had a look at who might make the cut.
Liverpool beat local rivals Everton 1-0 at Anfield in the 3rd round after Klopp selected a mixture of experienced fringe players and youth talent. This Sunday’s game at Shrewsbury will see a starting eleven of a similar standard for The Reds.
In goals, Adrian will keep his place as the designated FA Cup ‘keeper. Neco Williams and Yasser Larouci will most likely start on either side of the back four. I think Klopp will use Sunday’s game to aid both Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip in their rehabilitation back to full fitness.
Adam Lallana should start in the ‘6’ role at the base of the midfield with Pedro Chirivella and Curtis Jones making up the rest of the trio.
Up front, young star Harvey Elliott will probably play wide right with new signing Takumi Minamino in the centre and Divock Origi on the opposite flank.
After this FA Cup tie, Liverpool return to Premier League action when they travel to West Ham United on Wednesday night. There’s bound to be a full-strength lineup on show in London but this Sunday it will be up to the rest of the squad to continue the club’s FA Cup journey for this season.
Predicted Liverpool lineup (4-3-3) Vs Shrewsbury Town: Adrian; Williams, Matip, Lovren, Larouci; Lallana, Chirivella, Jones; Elliott, Minamino, Origi
