Alisson believes positive environment at Melwood has underpinned Liverpool's incredible form this season

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker says that the right mix of enjoyment and intensity at Melwood is the main factor behind The Reds’ incredible form this season.

Liverpool’s Brazilian ‘keeper missed the first couple of months of the season yet is still joint-first for the most Premier League clean sheets with Dean Henderson (Sheffield United) and Nick Pope (Burnley) on 9.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Alisson discussed the quality throughout the squad along with the positive atmosphere at Melwood.

“We have to focus on our quality. We have an amazing group with amazing players – one goes out, the other comes in.

“Adrian, for example, when I got injured, he comes in and performed really, really good. An example of the other boys, Fab goes out and another one comes in and it’s the same. Everybody helps a lot on the pitch.

“We are enjoying this time because it’s good to be on the top. We work for this – to be on the top in a top level.

“We are enjoying it a lot. For winning you need to enjoy the game. The way we play, you need to enjoy that because if you don’t enjoy that then you cannot play all the games with our intensity. We try to do our best and be happy on the pitch.

“In Brazil we always say that you need to enjoy the game to be happy playing football because football is happiness.

“Of course you need to be serious because you are in a competition of a high level, but you need to enjoy.”

Alisson got to spend some time at home in Brazil during Liverpool’s break but is back fighting fit and ready to go against Norwich City on Saturday evening.

“I’ve been in Brazil and I spent time to see my brother. Obviously you cannot stop, you need to keep training to keep fit and then I did some work with him. It’s nice to have sunshine!

“We are expecting a tough game. Every game in the Premier League – no matter if you are top or bottom – always is a difficult game.

“We need to prepare ourselves in the best way that we can in this week and be ready for everything.”

Liverpool travel to Carrow Road for the evening game this Saturday. Then Jurgen Klopp’s Reds travel to Spain to continue the defence of their Champions League crown at the venue where they won number 6 back on June 1st – Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano.
