"What a player" - Gomez praises match-winning cameo appearance from Sadio Mané
Liverpool’s Sadio Mané came off the bench to keep The Reds’ Premier League winning streak going at Carrow Road on Saturday evening.
Daniel Farke’s Norwich had provided stern opposition for the bulk of the game until Mané changed things with a brilliantly taken goal. Liverpool’s number 10 had only been on the field 18 minutes before he struck the winner.
Mané had not started at Norwich as he was still recovering from injury. Reds players and fans alike will be hoping his goal is confirmation he is now fully recovered.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Liverpool’s Joe Gomez described the many qualities of Sadio Mané and how important his role in the team has been this season – and again on Saturday.
“All the different ways and different forms of goals, it shows his quality and we were lucky to have him come off the bench but obviously that was due to his injury. What a player, he gives you a boost of confidence when he’s coming on and psychologically for another team it’s not nice! He’s massive and he’s popped up for us in so many moments this year and done it yet again.”
Liverpool’s win stretched their lead to 25 points at the top of the Premier League as the countdown continues to the club’s 19th league title success.
Next up for Jurgen Klopp’s side is a tricky trip to face Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night in the last sixteen of the Champions League.
