Liverpool move 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League after a 1-0 win away to Norwich City at Carrow Road. The goal was a long time coming, but super-sub Sadio Mane’s 77th minute strike sealed all 3 points. Norwich defended well but can have no complaints about the result.
Alisson – 9
Pulled off an incredible stop to prevent an almost certain goal when he clawed the ball away from the feet of Teemu Pukki. Had the goal been scored, it would likely have been ruled out for offside, but Allison wasn’t to know. Although he was barely tested other than that, he demonstrated some excellent handling late-on to relieve some pressure.
Trent – 7
Saw a lot of the ball and perhaps could have done more with it on several occasions. However, he was always a threat and still managed to deliver a number of extremely dangerous crosses. The Englishman should have added another assist to his collection this season, but Roberto Firmino denied him by missing an open goal from 3 yards out.
Gomez – 6
Had very little to do but achieved yet another clean sheet.
Van Dijk – 6
Also had very little to do. Should have had a penalty after he was hauled down in the box at a corner by 2 Norwich players.
Robbo – 6
Decent game from Robertson. Had virtually nothing to do defensively and had a couple of nice moments going forward.
Hendo – 7
Played 3 or 4 sensational passes from deep that created real chances, with one of them assisting Sadio Mane for his goal.
Gini – 5 (Off at 60 mins)
Apparently played.
Naby – 6 (Off at 84 mins)
A bit of a mixed performance for Naby Keita. He was wasteful in the final third on a few occasions but was willing to take risks and be positive throughout the game. It was a match that needed someone to take the ball and attempt to make something happen and he did just that.
Ox – 5 (Off at 60 mins)
Had to play out on the wing again and no one wants to see that.
Firmino – 7
It was one of those games where Bobby decided his touch was going to be immaculate. Should have scored, though.
Salah – 7
Was dangerous throughout, as usual. In difficult conditions against a very defensive team he still managed to cause problems for Norwich.
Mane – 8 (On at 60 mins)
Once again he came up clutch just when we needed him. Was brought on in the 60th minute and instantly made an impact. His goal to win the tie was sublime, controlling a long ball with the tip of his toes before rifling a low shot into the near corner.
Fabinho – 7 (On at 60 mins)
Helped solidify the midfield and dictated the game from the base of the central 3.
Milner – 6 (On at 84 mins)
Good to see him back fit.
