Liverpool coach Jack Robinson claims that The Reds’ young stars – Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and Rhian Brewster – are a “nightmare” for goalkeepers to deal with.

Robinson currently works as an assistant goalkeeping coach for the first-team and has first-hand experience dealing with the three stars at Melwood.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Robinson said:

“You sort of get an idea for how good they are, but then you put them into the environment that they’ve had with Vitor and the first team, and with the finishing sessions that Pep and Pete put on as well, they are a nightmare.

“They hit the ball with such pace and such precision. It’s a real test for our goalkeepers – but that’s what we want as well.

“We want them to test our goalkeepers because, ultimately, when they step out on the pitch, they’re going to come up against the best players in the world – whether that’s with the U23s or with our first team in the league or Champions League. We want them to be tested in training as well.

“For us, it’s great. They have to try to score past Alisson, who is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. We have to try to stop them scoring as well.

“It’s a good process in both ways, but it can get competitive at times as well!”

Brewster joined Liverpool from Chelsea at the age of 14. He showed some great potential during last summer’s pre-season friendlies but hasn’t had much opportunity within the first-team during the 2019/20 campaign.

Elliott just turned 17 last month. He plays as a wide forward, generally as an inverted winger (like Salah), cutting in from the right on his favoured left foot. Elliott joined Liverpool from Fulham in the summer of 2019 after reportedly attracting interest from Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain as well.

Curtis Jones has worked his way up through Liverpool’s schoolboy teams, joining when he was 9 years old. Jones plays primarily as a midfielder or a wide forward. The highlight of his young career so far was scoring the winning goal against Everton in the FA Cup at Anfield earlier this season.
