Liverpool will welcome back all of their international players in the next day or two after last night’s UEFA Nations League action.
Some players – such as CaoimhÃn Kelleher and Divock Origi – didn’t get any game time on Wednesday night. Kelleher and Origi were unused substitutes for Ireland and Belgium respectively.
Virgil van Dijk and Gini Wijnaldum were in action in the Netherlands’ 1-1 draw away to Italy.
For England, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson continued his journey back to full fitness, coming on in the second half of England’s 1-0 defeat at home to Denmark. Neither Joe Gomez nor Trent Alexander-Arnold played any part in that game.
Neco Williams’ fledgeling Wales career enjoyed another successful night as the young right-back provided the assist for the only goal of the game away to Bulgaria. He put in a low cross from the right for his namesake, Jonny Williams, to score the late winner.
Elsewhere, Liverpool new-boy Diogo Jota was the star of the show as he spearheaded Portugal’s 3-0 win over Sweden, scoring two goals and setting up the other.
Now, Liverpool’s players will return to Melwood to prepare for Saturday’s huge Merseyside derby clash at Goodison Park.
Thankfully, there were no fresh injury concerns to report regarding any Liverpool players this week.
