Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp gave a brief injury update on both Joël Matip and Naby Keïta following The Reds’ draw with West Brom on Sunday.
It was reported before the game that Keïta was unavailable for selection so Klopp shed some light on that subject as well as admitting the Matip news will be known tomorrow or Tuesday at the earliest.
Speaking about the injuries about his post-match press conference, Klopp said about Matip:
“Joel told me he felt something in his adductor and that’s obviously not too good.
“I am not sure how serious it is now, but it was serious enough that he had to leave the pitch. The rest of the information I will get tomorrow.”
On the Keïta issue, Klopp commented:
“He felt a muscle again.
“I don’t know exactly how long [it will be], but he was not ready for today and not for Wednesday, I think. We will see.”
Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Sam Allardyce’s West Brom at Anfield, dropping points at home for the first time all season. Matip went off injured in the second half with young Rhys Williams replacing him at centre-half.
Some good injury news was the continued rehabilitation of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in midfield. The England international earned some more game-time and will soon be a viable option for the starting eleven.
Liverpool’s next game is Wednesday night at Newcastle and, following that, it’s a trip to the south coast to face Southampton next Monday.

It’s getting ridiculous keeping kieta on the pay sheet when he’s never fit. Either sell him or put him on a pay as you play.
