Liverpool travel to face Manchester United in the FA Cup on Sunday. We’ve had a look at Jürgen Klopp’s likely starting lineup.
This game is likely to see a much-changed first eleven for both sides as they try to juggle their domestic duties without risking injury to any vital first-team players.
Liverpool are still without Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Diogo Jota, Kostas Tsimikas and Naby Keïta.
Joël Matip is fit again but it’s very unlikely he will be risked for this FA Cup clash. Jordan Henderson missed the Burnley defeat last night with a minor issue but it’s hoped he will be available for Sunday’s match.
Caoimhin Kelleher will start in goal for The Reds as he is Klopp’s ‘FA Cup goalkeeper’ for this season. The young Irishman will benefit hugely from more game-time in such a big fixture.
I think Neco Williams and Nat Phillips will both start in defence. Fabinho will probably partner Phillips at centre-half to maintain some level of experience in there. James Milner could be called upon again at left-back since Tsimikas is still unavailable.
Henderson and Thiago Alcântara may start in midfield with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain possibly coming in as well.
Takumi Minamino might be given the opportunity to start in the front three in place of Roberto Firmino. Klopp may still start Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané too as he will want to secure the victory at Old Trafford.
Predicted Liverpool lineup (4-3-3) vs Manchester United: Kelleher; Williams N, Phillips, Fabinho, Milner; Henderson, Thiago, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Minamino, Mané
