Liverpool meet Southampton at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday night. We’ve had a look at the likely starting lineup for The Reds.

Jürgen Klopp will again have plenty of decisions to make. Not only with regards to the starting eleven but also about the formation Liverpool will use.

I’m guessing Klopp will opt for a 4-2-3-1 shape in this one, just to get all his best-attacking options on the pitch right from the start. This would see Mohamed Salah lead from the front with the trio of Sadio Mané, Diogo Jota, and Roberto Firmino just behind him.

Nat Phillips had been confirmed to start in last Sunday’s postponed game at Old Trafford so the centre-back should be in against Southampton. Phillips and Ozan Kabak will probably form the partnership in central defence. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson will continue at right and left-back respectively.

Fabinho will revert to his favoured defensive midfield role thanks to Phillips’ return. I think Gini Gijnaldum will partner Fabinho in the two-man midfield setup.

Predicted Liverpool lineup (4-2-3-1) vs Southampton: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, Kabak, Robertson; Fabinho, Wijnaldum; Jota, Firmino, Mané; Salah
