Liverpool have been linked with a move for Renato Sanches this summer as the club may look to add more midfielders to the squad.
The rumours of Liverpool’s potential interest in Sanches started almost as soon as the Euros got underway this summer. Many have questioned the Lille star’s injury record and whether The Reds should be pursuing him at all.
Sanches burst onto the scene during the Euro 2016 tournament becoming the youngest ever Portugal international to play at a major competition. In the years that followed, Sanches spent time at Bayern Munich, Swansea City, and Lille.
Last season, he made 23 appearances for Lille as they won their first Ligue 1 title in 10 years.
According to French publication, L’EQUIPE, Sanches is very much on Liverpool’s radar this summer.
The article claims that Liverpool would face competition for Sanches’ signature from Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta’s side ready to join the bidding war. L’EQUIPE claims that the French club is prepared to sell the midfielder this summer with Liverpool ‘very interested’ in making a move.
It remains to be seen if Jürgen Klopp and Michael Edwards will look to bring anyone in to replace the void following Gini Wijnaldum’s departure.
Curtis Jones’ progression in the last two seasons has been excellent and it could well be the case that Klopp is about to place enough trust in the Scouser to step up into a more significant role in the first-team squad. However, the Sanches rumours continue to exist.
