Alisson Becker – 7.0
Wasn’t at fault for Grays goal, and showed good use of the ball. Not his busiest evening (in terms of shots saved), and commanded when is required.
Trent Alexander Arnold – 7.5
Possibly could have swept tighter for the goal, but the all in all, a solid game. Good progression of the ball, if not entirely brilliant in a sometimes frantic game. His standards are high, and his importance not in doubt.
Andy Robertson – 8.0
A good game, and always a willing outlet. Two assists hopefully sees his form back where we needs it to be. His kind of atmosphere and game.
Joel Matip – 7.0
Positionally off for the goal, but otherwise a steady game. Probably comes out for the weekend, before a return against AC Milan.
Virgil Van Dijk – 7.5
Such high standards are set, that the odd moment of indecision is irregular. A victorious return to Goodison for the defensive leader, in a good overall game.
Thiago Alcantara- 7.0
Nice and simple when needed. Was surrounded and pressed constantly, as Rafa knew of his importance to the reds system. Allows good positional control, enabling others to exploit space.
Jordan Henderson – 8.5
A great first half, and great strike, and then a fine assist. Linked well with Salah, and the balance of the midfield is now allowing him less pressure to control.
Fabinho – 7.5
Always wanted the ball, and was able to relieve pressure throughout. He takes up such good defensive positions, and is vital to this side both on and off the ball
Sadio Mane – 7.0
Kept looking to drive forward, and gave a good balance to the left flank. Wanted a goal, but was often crowded out by the retreating blues.
Diogo Jota – 7.5
A busy game, and a great goal. Fired an unstoppable shot over the crumbling Pickford, and showed his clinical nature inside the box.
Mohamed Salah – 9.0
Sensational in his work. The first goal was blissful, and the second a great show of composure, pace, and precision. His Ballon d’Or placing will be much different in a years time
Subs:
James Milner – 6.5
The cooler came in to allow Thiago a rest, and that role is ideal for this type of game.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 6.0
He’s now playing a part of every game, and will be hoping to start against Wolves. Back in the mix, and looking to impress.
Takumi Minamino – 6.0
Now the legitimate 5th choice (ahead of Origi), and his confidence will only continue to grow.
The Manager:
Jürgen Klopp – 9.0
He went strong, and it paid off. There’s little room for dropped points this season, and his want to keep the key players rhythm was justified. Another emphatic score line, that no longer looks Irregular. Wolves next.
Summary:
Apart from a 10 minute spell after the goal, the result was never in doubt. Efficiency and ruthlessness for the reds once more, and a Merseyside win is always important. This could be Rafa Benitez’s last ever match, managing in Liverpool.
