Caoimhin Kelleher – 7.0
A good first half, with lots of possession against Arsenals press. Solid composure under pressure, and another good outing.
Trent Alexander Arnold – 9.0
A great moment for the opening goal, and the playmaker is looking imperious on the ball. Gave good solidity at the back, and tracked runners well. Kept sliding into a central areas to create on the ball brilliance. The pass for the second goal was sensational.
Andy Robertson – 7.5
Limited on the left in the first half, but endeavour and tenacity crept into his game through the second half. His form is good, and he’s a huge asset.
Virgil Van Dijk – 7.0
Lots of organised defending, and good leadership through the first half. Dominated throughout the second half and kept the Gunners at bay.
Joel Matip – 5.5
Looked shaky throughout the first half, with Arsenal looking to press Liverpool’s back line. Subbed at the break, hopefully due to form and not injury.
Fabinho – 7.5
Drove with the ball, cut out areas off the break, and controlled his territory. Great interception on Martinelli midway through the first half. Was sensible and clever in the second, with moments of elegance and guile.
Jordan Henderson – 6.0
Good variation in his work in the first. Limited use of the ball, but gave balance when Trent moved inside. Subbed.
Curtis Jones – 7.0
Dynamic on the ball, and gives such good balance in possession with Thiago and Keita unavailable. More games need to come this young mans way each and every week.
Kaide Gordon – 5.5
A relative bystander for the first period, and stagnated till he left the field. More games will come his way. Subbed.
Diogo Jota – 8.5
So much better on the left, and drove inside brilliantly for the opening goal. A magnificent take and touch for the second goal. A true predator that could now be a mainstay in this attack.
Roberto Firmino – 7.0
A great flick for the opening goal, to help orchestrate the opening. Graft more than anything always allowed openings for Jota. Subbed.
Ibrahima Konate – 6.5
Nearly scored off a corner with a great header. Strong and assured when needed.
Takumi Minamino – 5.5
A tough game to come into, as positionally I’m there’s no clarity. Worked hard and gave width.
James Milner – 5.5
Offers ample option from the bench to make sure Hendo didn’t overplay.
Neco Williams – N/A
Jurgen Klopp – 7.5
He would have enjoyed this one, after last week’s frustrations. The starting line up was good, the subs on point and clever. Managing without the world’s greatest forward and world’s greatest controller, is always tough, but he’s keeping this team in the mix across all fronts. Arteta went toe to toe, and played into Klopp’s hands.
Pre Match Prediction:
Arsenal 1 – 2 Liverpool
