It’s an intriguing decision, given Liverpool’s current state at the heart of defence. With stalwarts Virgil van Dijk sidelined due to suspension, and Ibrahima Konate nursing an injury until after the international break, Jurgen Klopp’s choices are thinning. Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and emerging star Jarell Quansah are among the remaining central defenders available.
