Mo Salah and Liverpool’s Behind-the-Scenes Dance
Liverpool’s talismanic forward, Mohamed Salah, is often in the limelight for his sublime skills and jaw-dropping goals. But recently, it’s been his off-pitch dealings that have caught everyone’s attention. Who would have thought that a footballer’s contract negotiations would become the stuff of Ivy League scrutiny?
The Harvard Scrutiny
In a rather unusual twist, the intricacies of Salah’s contract talks have found their way into the esteemed classrooms of Harvard Business School. The American academic institution has decided to dissect Salah’s discussions with Liverpool, aiming to uncover the nuances of how such agreements come to fruition.
“It takes a little bit of time, I think, to renew, but now everything is done so we just need to focus on what’s next,” remarked Salah during his previous contract renewal in July 2022. A deal, mind you, that made him pocket a neat £350,000 every week, making him the highest-earning player in Liverpool’s storied history.

Liverpool’s Roller Coaster Negotiations
Given his pivotal role for the Merseyside outfit, it’s hardly surprising that the extension of his tenure became the talk of the town. The Egyptian dynamo, fondly cheered as the ‘Pharaoh of Anfield’, had his followers on tenterhooks about the delay in his contract agreement last summer.
Anita Elberse, a luminary from Harvard Business School, couldn’t contain her excitement and took to the digital realms to announce: “New case alert! An examination of the unparalleled Mohamed Salah, his agent Ramy Abbas, and their contract negotiations with Liverpool FC last summer.”
Salah, ever the man of the people, didn’t shy away from offering a glimpse into this study. He shared a snippet with his Instagram community, which would’ve surely cleared the air about the past year’s nail-biting moments. And it seems the Liverpool faithful had every reason for their anxiety.
“I am starting to fear that we may not be able to come to an agreement on a new contract, Mohamed – their latest offer is still very far from what we want,” expressed a rather perturbed Abbas.
However, Salah’s commitment to the Reds was unwavering. “I want to stay with Liverpool but the club needs to show that they want me to stay as well,” he candidly mentioned.
Future at Anfield?
Fast forward a year, the landscape doesn’t seem very different. Questions over Salah’s commitment to Liverpool are again surfacing, despite his scintillating form. Having either scored or set up a goal in each of Liverpool’s initial six Premier League outings this season, it’s evident that Salah’s heart is still very much in it. But as always, football is as much about the off-pitch ballet as it is about on-pitch battles. Only time will tell where Salah’s future truly lies.
