Liverpool Suffer Blow in their Interest in 23-year-old “World-Class” Forward

As the uncertainty over Luis Diaz’s Liverpool future continues to rise, Liverpool have been linked with a plethora of forwards. One of those happen to be 23-year-old Napoli forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but reports suggest that PSG could make a quick move for the Georgian international early in this summer window.

That’s according to Gazzeta, who have reported that the French side have submitted an offer of around £60million for the winger, which could rise to an astounding £100million in the future.

Liverpool’s Need for a Forward

The Reds have been consistently linked with a move for a forward over recent weeks, with PSV’s Johan Bakayoko and Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia being two of the forwards heavily tipped to make a potential switch to Anfield. These rumours come as uncertainty around Luis Diaz’s short-term future at the club and Mohamed Salah’s long-term future remains ever-present.

Should either of those forwards move on for a considerable transfer fee, then the Napoli winger would’ve surely been towards the top of Liverpool’s list of targets.

Why Kvaratskhelia?

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has enjoyed a stellar few years since joining Napoli from Dinamo Butumi for around £13million back in 2022. His debut season for the Italian giants saw him rack up an astonishing 14 goals and 17 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions. That season saw him burst onto the radar of Europe’s elite clubs, but he has also enjoyed success this season despite Napoli’s struggles.

Kvaratskhelia has still managed 11 goals and 8 assists in 34 Serie A appearances this season, still being their most creative threat. His hugely impressive club performances have also translated onto the international stage, where he has scored 15 goals in 29 appearances for Georgia.

Financial Implications

His impressive performances have also landed him a hefty £80million valuation, according to Transfermarkt. That makes PSG’s total offer of £100million a fairly solid offer for the 23-year-old, as they look to replace Kylian Mbappe who’s arrival at Real Madrid is imminent.

Unfortunately, PSG’s mega-money offer all pretty much confirms that Liverpool will no longer be in the race for the world-class winger. The £100million fee being offered by PSG is way out of Liverpool’s budget, who are expected to prioritise a defensive signing this season rather than a forward.

What Next for Liverpool?

This update may force Liverpool into looking at cheaper alternatives with PSV’s Johan Bakayoko and Juventus’ Federico Chiesa both being heavily linked over recent days. Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise had also been linked with a move to Liverpool, but Fabrizio Romano’s update last week claimed that the Reds weren’t in the race to sign the talented winger.

Neither of these targets seem like the sort of move that Michael Edwards would look to make, so I suspect that Liverpool may take a patient approach in their attacking conundrum across the summer window.
