Liverpool’s Summer Transfer Targets: Premier League Forward a “Must”

Despite being informed throughout the week by multiple Chelsea fans on social media, it now appears that Michael Olise has not in fact signed for the Stanford Bridge club. Thereby remaining a player of interest to more suitors than just the huge spending West London outfit. Now, it could well be that the Crystal Palace attacking midfielder will end up at the entertaining Todd Boehly revolution, however, I just cannot see why an ambitious footballer (who once left Manchester City to advance his career) would head to a destination that is likely to receive sanctions season after season, due to their questionable actions under the previous and current regime. This predicament will come hand in hand with a requirement recoup money, which will give them little chance of qualifying for the Champions League in the near future.

Fitting into Slot’s System

Basing this theory on Mohamed Salah penning an extension to existing Anfield contract, I suspect a younger asset will be sought to operate alongside him, one that could eventually replace him. In the upcoming 4-2-3-1 system of play, it would be tantalising to see the Egyptian king placed into the second striker role behind Darwin Núñez or Diogo Jota. Such an endeavour would mean placing either Harvey Elliott or the subject of this piece, French under-21-star Olise, onto the right wing, in a position where they would routinely switch roles with Anfield whoever is placed in that famous number 10 role.

Likelihood of a Deal

Unless Luis Díaz is sold to either Barcelona or PSG, then there will be little to no movement in that specific area of the team. Too much work is needed in the defensive midfield and the rearguard by Liverpool executives, Michael Edwards, and Richard Hughes, for money to be allocated at an area already well stocked. If the Colombian flyer does attain his move away from Merseyside, I suspect that the former Manchester City Academy graduate, 22-year-old Olise, will be very high on list of for both the new Sporting Director and his Sporting CEO.

There appears to be strong competition for the man rumoured to have a £60m release clause in his Eagles contract, which is unfortunately the reality when you are looking towards the top shelf of the market. In the coming weeks we will find out who is likely to be sold and I hope that if we are indeed to lose the services of the 27-year-old Diaz, then the recruitment team will turn rumour to reality and target the man to add a new dimension to the reds attack. Liverpool may be the outside bet at the moment, though with so much expected delays in deals with the international tournaments continuing, patience as ever is recommended.

This is one piece of speculation that could lead to yet another summer standoff with Chelsea, however, the new LFC CEO, Michael Edwards, will be negotiating this time around, which could be vital to transfer success.
