Liverpool 2 – 0 Brentford – PL Man of the Match
Luis Díaz Shines in Liverpool’s First Home Game of the Season
The Reds first home game of the season came against a Brentford side which had just delivered somewhere in the region of £50m, as former Liverpool players, Fábio Carvalho, and Sepp van den Berg, left the Merseyside giants to join the mid-table Premier League side. This game has often been an encounter which would have been a difficult match to overcome, as Thomas Frank continues to overcome the odds and produce a team that has overachieved during the club’s unlikely stay in the English top tier.

Liverpool’s New Era Under Arne Slot
This Super Sunday offered some resilient play by the visiting club; however, a well-oiled Liverpool machine is rapidly being engineered by the reds new Head Coach, Arne Slot. The second half showing (and certain moments in the first half) was littered with brilliance in play and tantalizing patterns which captivated a crowd that was jubilant with their team. Though you can see clear familiarity with the desires of the former manager, Jürgen Klopp, there is absolutely no denying that a strong impression is being made on this side by its new leader. The fundamentals of this regeneration will demand hard work and deliver tremendously executed goals, much like those on show today.
Luis Díaz: The Match-Winner Liverpool Needed
In the summer, many of the fanbase assumed that the Columbia flyer, Luis Díaz, would be headed to Barcelona. As a South American that is clearly drawn to the Catalan giants, I fully expected that the Spanish giants would find the money required to lure away the 27-year-old winger. Fortunately for the Liverpool boss and his delighted support, the former Porto man remains in the Premier League and is showing the kind of form that was delivered in his first half season at the club. With more intricate and premeditated on-ball endeavour, this match ups man of the match was at first able to secure the game’s opening goal and later the perfect assist for his Egyptian teammate, Mohamed Salah.

Key Moments: Luis Díaz’s Impact on the Game
The first goal was something straight out of the Klipp playbook of old, as a breakaway allowed Diogo Jota to feed in Luis Díaz, before he drilled past the keeper and into the inside of the near post. The pressure and efforts of all players in red overwhelmed a stuttering opposition, as finally the second goal secured the win. After some fine pressing, the reds left winger was able to lay on the perfect pass and the scores doubled to 2-0.
Luis Díaz: The Perfect Fit for Arne Slot’s Liverpool
I am grateful that the elite level talents of the £80m rated wide forward have been retained, as his array of talents appear the perfect match for his new Head Coach. Today needed some clinical finishing and strong build up to overcome a stubborn adversary, something which was achieved largely due to the excellence of Luis Díaz.
