Given these circumstances, Juventus seems eager to offload the winger, especially with only a year left on his contract. Marcotti highlighted the club’s predicament: “With a year left… most clubs either move the player or they extend the deal. I think Juventus don’t feel that they want to extend the deal because he is a really, really big earner for where they are now.”
Chiesa’s Fit at Liverpool
For Liverpool, the prospect of signing Chiesa presents an intriguing opportunity, especially considering the uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future. Marcotti made an astute observation: “I would take it as a sign that maybe Mo’s not coming back next year… I don’t know that you would want to spend £200k per week for somebody to be Mo Salah’s backup not just this season but for the coming years as well.”
Chiesa’s versatility could be a valuable asset for Liverpool. He can play on either wing and even as a central forward in certain formations. However, his injury history raises concerns. Marcotti noted that despite these injuries, “He is still a quick, dynamic player.” If he can stay fit, Chiesa could offer Liverpool much-needed depth and the ability to rotate their forward line more effectively.

Marcotti pointed out, “You can’t just think of… the fee and the wages together… He’s on a big wage now… If he got the same money he’s on now, £200k per week, he would probably be the second highest-paid Liverpool forward.”

Marcotti speculated that if the deal were to happen, it might indicate that Salah’s time at Anfield could be nearing its end: “If he does come… it’s close to the money he’s on now… I would take it as a sign that maybe Mo’s not coming back next year.”
