Liverpool’s Stance on Luis Diaz Contract Talks Revealed by Journalist

Liverpool’s early transfer business has sparked huge excitement amongst the fanbase, and rightly so. However, the need for outgoings and crucial contract talks remain more present than ever.

Following the arrivals of Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez, Liverpool now seek clarity over a number of first-team players. The first of those will be Jarell Quansah, who is expected to join Bayer Leverkusen in a £35million deal imminently.

Andy Robertson, Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez are all facing uncertain futures amid interest from a number of clubs. Both Ibrahima Konate and Luis Diaz find themselves at tipping point in contract talks with the club, with one and two years remaining on their deals respectively.

Earlier it was reported that Konate wants to leave the club at the end of his contract next summer, with Liverpool already eyeing a move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

Diaz’s Situation

But now, Pipe Sierra has provided an intriguing update over the contract talks, or lack thereof, with Diaz and has claimed the Reds will not offer the Colombian a new deal.

“Exclusive: Luis Diaz and his entourage are upset with Liverpool’s stance. They feel that the club have gone back on their word (once again with the player).”

“Something similar happened before with his contract renewal and now with the possibility of a transfer,” Sierra said.

The journalist has also claimed that Diaz’s future at the club isn’t guaranteed, despite an impressive campaign under Arne Slot.

The 28-year-old scored 17 goals and provided crucial versatility in Liverpool’s title-winning campaign, but the club are seemingly reluctant to offer a new contract.

A number of Saudi clubs are reportedly interested in signing the forward, along with Barcelona. Liverpool are expected to hold out for around £75million for Diaz, with a summer move certainly possible.
