Liverpool D-Day Looms Over Isak Pursuit

The Alexander Isak transfer saga has entered what Lewis Steele has described as “deadline week” with the Newcastle striker’s future set to be decided before the window shuts. Speaking on his Lewis Steele YouTube Channel, Steele confirmed that Isak remains desperate for a move and made his intentions clear during high-level talks with Newcastle executives.

Steele reported: “We’re led to believe that at those talks, Isak basically said, ‘Sorry, but I want Liverpool.’ And that is where the land lies at the moment.”

Newcastle’s Firm Stance and Liverpool’s Strategy

Steele emphasised that Newcastle’s price remains a major obstacle. “Newcastle are sticking by the stance of 150 million,” he said, though he noted this figure “has never actually been officially communicated to Liverpool,” with suggestions within the industry that “130 is the figure that will get a deal done.”

He added, “If Newcastle get the players in, if Liverpool put the money forward, then Isak will become a Liverpool player this month.”

Steele also made clear that Liverpool manager Arne Slot is pushing for another forward before the deadline. “I think Arne is desperate for that forward and I think that he will be in Richard Hughes’ and Michael Edwards’ ear in the next few days saying go on lads have one last cheeky bid,” he explained.

Player Desperation and Market Reality

Isak’s stance has been consistent throughout the saga, with Steele describing him as “absolutely desperate for a move.” He stressed that Newcastle face a difficult choice if they sign replacements: “Whatever happens really… if they can get 120, 130, maybe even 140 million for him then absolutely take it and run Newcastle. You’re never going to get that money again.”

He acknowledged the complex nature of the situation: “It’s an almighty messy situation already. It’s going to get even more messy this week.”

Liverpool’s Wider Challenges

Steele used the Isak saga to highlight Liverpool’s depth issues in attack. He pointed to Rio Ngumoha’s dramatic late winner at Newcastle, saying: “Although it worked out brilliantly, it was almost a bit of a statement… these are my attacking options. I’m throwing on a 16-year-old there.”

The comments underline Liverpool’s urgency to add another forward. Steele’s analysis suggests the next few days will be critical, labelling this period as decisive: “It is deadline week… and Liverpool are still in the conversation for Alexander Isak, and he’s desperate for the move.”

With six days left of the transfer window, all eyes are on Liverpool’s next move as the club weigh a potential record-breaking bid.
