Szoboszlai Credits Alexander-Arnold Exit for Liverpool’s Vital Win

The moment was one of brilliance, a strike that not only secured three points but also highlighted Szoboszlai’s growing influence at Liverpool. Yet, in his post-match interview, he revealed that his opportunity came only because Trent Alexander-Arnold had departed for Real Madrid in the summer.

Free Kick Freedom for Szoboszlai

“Luckily, we could practice some free-kicks,” Szoboszlai told Sky Sports. “I felt this was a bit further. I was like ‘I’ll take the risk’. I was confident in myself, I tried it… finally [I’ve scored from a free-kick].

“When you practice all the time, now I should mention Trent because he was taking the free-kicks in the past. Finally I could have my chance and did it.”

A Risk Worth Taking

Szoboszlai also explained his approach to beating Arsenal’s goalkeeper David Raya. “This shot I didn’t practice in the past few weeks because we were shooting closer. I had to take a risk and shoot a little bit harder because I knew Raya likes to jump behind the ball. He’s an unbelievable goalkeeper. If it goes a bit more inside he saves it.”

Liverpool’s Title Push

This strike not only underlined Szoboszlai’s confidence but also the depth of quality in Liverpool’s squad despite losing Alexander-Arnold. With the title race heating up, this goal may prove pivotal as Liverpool sit top of the table, their ambitions growing with each decisive moment.
