Ricken provides clarity on contract talks

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Lars Ricken has addressed speculation surrounding Nico Schlotterbeck’s future, with the defender reportedly attracting interest from Liverpool. Speaking about ongoing discussions over a new contract, Ricken emphasised that patience and trust remain central to the process.

“It is his absolute right to plan his future carefully. We respect that and I believe that the focus should not be on salary, but on prospects, trust and conviction,” Ricken said.

The Dortmund chief added that talks would continue without unnecessary delay. “We will not rush into anything but of course, we do not want to drag it out indefinitely, everyone is aware of that.”

Liverpool are believed to be monitoring Schlotterbeck’s situation closely, as the Premier League club assess long-term defensive options ahead of next summer.
