Liverpool Backing For Arne Slot Made Clear Amid Fierce Run
Liverpool find themselves wrestling with a rare storm, but Arne Slot insists the club remains united behind him. The Premier League champions have hit a sudden dip, losing four league matches in a row and suffering six defeats in seven in all competitions.
Yet through the noise, Slot’s stance remains steady. He says the backing from FSG has not wavered and his dialogue with Liverpool’s football hierarchy continues with clarity and calm.
Slot Stands Firm In FSG Relationship
Speaking ahead of the visit of high-flying Aston Villa, Slot emphasised stability behind the scenes.
“For me they say similar things,” he explained. “I speak mainly to Richard and once in a while to the others (Edwards and FSG). They also see similar things as what I see.

“For me the conversations haven’t changed a lot. We always talk about the game and it’s always nicer to talk about the game if you have won than if you have lost.
“[I feel supported] not only in this period but also when things go well.”
Liverpool were five points clear before defeat at Crystal Palace sparked a slide followed by reverses to Chelsea, Manchester United and Brentford. European disappointment at Galatasaray and another Palace setback in the Carabao Cup have added to the tension. Lose to Villa and the Reds could sit 10 points behind leaders Arsenal. For a title-defending side, it is unfamiliar territory.
Injury Burden And Squad Rhythm
Slot offered insight into squad strain without hiding behind excuses.
“What I meant was, if these players are all fit we have so much quality. This club is in such a good place when you look at the quality we have for the short-term future and the long-term future.”
He referenced key fitness issues, highlighting the challenges of rhythm and rotation.
“I used this to explain my line-up on Wednesday. I didn’t use it as an excuse for losing against Brentford or the loss before or the loss before.”
Slot referenced Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, and Alex Mac Allister being stretched, while youngsters Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni are still being eased into senior conditioning.
Focus Turns To Response
Liverpool’s squad depth and identity have served them well under FSG stewardship in the past. Slot stays convinced those foundations remain strong, even in adversity.
“We have an unbelievable squad if they are all fit and all ready for the programme we are facing.”
Now the task is simple. Reset. Regain rhythm. Reclaim belief. Anfield has staged plenty of recoveries. Slot will hope this becomes another chapter in that long history of resilience.
