Liverpool out of the race to sign Premier League star after David Ornstein Update
Despite their record-breaking summer transfer window, there have been plenty of reports suggesting Liverpool are still looking to bolster their current squad.
Potential moves for the likes of Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo have been well-documented over recent weeks ahead of the January transfer window.
Another name that has been linked with a move to Anfield has been Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers.
However, David Ornstein’s latest report claiming Rogers is set to agree a new contract at Villa Park has poured cold water over those rumours.
“Exclusive: Aston Villa reach agreement with Morgan Rogers on new contract.”
“Previous deal 2030; fresh terms 2031 with significantly improved salary.”
“Despite strong interest from Premier League + foreign suitors, 23-year-old midfielder to sign in coming days.”

Liverpool are reportedly huge admirers of the attacking midfielder, even despite signing Florian Wirtz for a record-breaking £116m fee in the summer.
Rogers enjoyed a stellar breakthrough campaign last season, scoring 14 goals and assisting a further 16 across all competitions.
With this new contract aimed to keep him at Villa Park for at least another six years, it’ll be hard for any team to provide the cash to pull him away.
It could still be a move to keep an eye on, but not one to hold your breath for…
