Fabrizio Romano Provides Liverpool Transfer Update Ahead of January Transfer Window
Liverpool’s disastrous title defence, losing six of their last seven Premier League games, has left fans already eagerly anticipating the January transfer window.
That’s despite spending a record-breaking amount on incomings just three months ago, including names like Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.
There could be further signings inbound too, with both Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi and AFC Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo heavily linked.
The latter of those is starting to look increasingly possible and Fabrizio Romano’s latest update has added further fuel to the fire…
Liverpool Facing Competition for Semenyo
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano confirmed Liverpool’s interest in the £60m forward, but they are not alone in the race.
He said: “Liverpool are considering Antoine Semenyo for the January transfer window.”
“Liverpool are well-informed on the release clause of £60m + £5m in add-ons. Semenyo remains a topic for Liverpool.”
“He is a player they are tracking and a player that they are following.”
“They are not the only club, last summer he was on the list of Man United, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are also following Semenyo.”
“There is a lot of interest in Semenyo. He is an opportunity in the market.”
Why Liverpool Need Semenyo
Since the departures of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez in the summer, Liverpool’s front-line has lacked energy and has been far too passive.
Semenyo has energy in abundance and has also massively improved on his end-product. Only Erling Haaland has more goal involvements in the Premier League this season than the 25-year-old forward.
For £60m, he could be an absolute steal and could add depth and quality to both flanks alongside Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo.
But as Romano states, Liverpool aren’t alone in the race and that should be a warning that they will need to act decisive to seal the deal.
