Tudor Under Pressure Ahead of Liverpool Clash on Sunday
Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for another crucial few days as Igor Tudor faces mounting scrutiny, yet the club has confirmed he will remain in charge for at least one more match. The Croat’s difficult spell has intensified following another damaging defeat, but his position will hold until Sunday when Spurs travel to Anfield.
Reports from the Evening Standard indicate that Tudor will conduct the usual pre match media duties on Friday afternoon, signalling that he is expected to lead the side into their Premier League meeting with Liverpool. For a manager under such pressure, every hour feels significant, and for Tottenham the coming days could shape whether Tudor is eventually sacked.
Heavy Defeat Deepens Crisis
Tudor’s tenure has unravelled quickly. Spurs endured a brutal night in Madrid during a Champions League last 16 first leg, where Atletico stormed into a commanding 4-0 lead before the visitors could respond.
It was an evening defined by costly mistakes, most notably from young goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky. Drafted in to replace Guglielmo Vicario, the goalkeeper struggled badly under pressure.
His first error came when a misplaced crossfield pass allowed Marcos Llorente to finish calmly. Moments later, confusion with Micky van de Ven presented Julian Alvarez with the simplest of opportunities, the forward able to walk the ball into an empty net.
Tudor made the decision to substitute Kinsky shortly afterwards, with Tottenham already three goals behind. The move sparked criticism from pundits watching the game.
Peter Schmeichel said Tudor was “killing” the player’s career.
The match did eventually swing towards a more respectable scoreline as Pedro Porro and Dominic Solanke found the net. Even so, the final 5-2 defeat leaves Tottenham with a mountain to climb in the second leg back in London.

Liverpool Test Looming on Sunday
Attention now turns to the Premier League and a daunting trip to Anfield on Sunday. Tottenham will hope to halt a miserable run of results that has seen them slide deeper into crisis.
Spurs have now lost six consecutive matches across all competitions, a sequence that represents the worst in the club’s 144 year history. Another defeat on Sunday would extend that run further and increase pressure on Tudor.
The timing of the Liverpool fixture adds to the tension. Anfield remains one of the toughest venues in English football and Spurs arrive low on confidence after a damaging week.
Despite speculation about whether Tudor could be sacked quickly, Tottenham’s decision to keep him in place for the Liverpool match suggests the club hierarchy are delaying any immediate change.
Sacked Speculation Intensifies
Defeat in Madrid quickly triggered fresh debate around Tudor’s future. Bookmakers even suspended betting markets on whether he would be sacked before the end of the season, an indication of the uncertainty surrounding his position.
Several potential replacements have already been discussed. Sean Dyche, recently dismissed by Nottingham Forest, has quickly emerged as an early favourite to take over if Tottenham make a change.
For now, though, Tudor remains in charge and will front the media on Friday before the team travel north for Sunday’s encounter.
Whether that match becomes a turning point or the final act of his troubled spell remains unclear. Football often moves quickly, particularly when results turn sharply against a manager.
If Tottenham fail to respond at Anfield, the calls for Tudor to be sacked will grow louder. For a club desperate to halt a historic losing streak, Sunday may prove decisive.
