Could Liverpool Move for Jarrod Bowen?
Liverpool’s summer search for attacking reinforcements was discussed in detail on Anfield Index’s Media Matters podcast, with Dave Davis asking Lewis Steele about the names being linked as Arne Slot’s side assess forward options.
Jarrod Bowen, who has 22 goal involvements this season, came into the conversation after Davis referenced earlier discussion around Yan Diomande and wider Liverpool transfer priorities.
Steele’s answer was cautious. He did not present Bowen as a leading Liverpool target. Instead, he said, “I just can’t remember the clubs that there was, but someone gave me a list of about four or five clubs that might be in for Bowen and Liverpool weren’t on there.”
Liverpool link treated with caution
Steele did acknowledge that there had been a Liverpool connection through reporting elsewhere. “The only thing I have on Bowen is one of my colleagues has reported that Liverpool might be keen,” he said.
The wording was deliberately measured. “Might be keen” is not the same as active talks, a formal approach or a move being advanced.
Davis had earlier said Liverpool were expected to look at “at least two attacking signings” as a priority. Steele agreed, saying, “I do think they’ll end up signing two forwards.” He described the possible profile as “an out and out winger who can go on the outside” and “one of these versatile forwards.”
Bowen’s appeal, within that context, is obvious. Steele said, “I do as I’ve said before I think it would sort of make sense because he’s a proven goal scorer. He’s got Premier League experience and he can play across the front three.”
Relegation clause point addressed
The discussion also touched on the financial angle around Bowen. Steele said, “I also heard there’s no relegation clause that means he’s suddenly available for £10 million or whatever.”
That was the clearest comment in the podcast relating to West Ham United’s position and any possible change in Bowen’s availability. The conversation did not state that Liverpool’s interest had grown because of West Ham’s relegation. It stated that Steele had heard there was no clause making Bowen cheaply available.

That distinction is important for Liverpool supporters following the market. Bowen may be attractive because of his Premier League record and versatility, but Steele’s comments suggested there is no simple cut price route.
Arne Slot’s forward search continues
The Bowen discussion sat within a wider assessment of Liverpool’s attacking needs under Arne Slot. Steele said signing two forwards would not be cheap, adding, “There’s no way you can sign two forwards for anything under 130, 140 million between them.”
He also warned that “all the clubs around Europe know that Liverpool need forwards,” meaning selling clubs could demand more. In that environment, Bowen offers a profile that is proven and familiar, yet the podcast did not portray him as the most likely Liverpool signing.
Steele’s final position was clear. “As it stands, it doesn’t seem like Liverpool are going to be the ones for him. But you never know.”
That leaves Bowen in a familiar transfer window space for Liverpool, logical on paper, discussed by credible voices, but not yet presented as a move gathering pace. For now, the Anfield Index conversation between Dave Davis and Lewis Steele suggests Bowen is a name worth monitoring, rather than one to treat as imminent.
