Alisson Becker – 7.0
The giant Brazilian stopper was steady and largely untroubled as the away side came to spoil a host with far too many underperforming stars. Not this keeper who did his job.
Ronald Araújo – 6.0
The Brazil international was a little cagey early on and looked a little misplaced as the game drifted without drive and determination from the Reds. A solid and unspectacular game.

The Greek international was very poor and should now drop to third choice with Chambers backing up Milos. Looks out of his depth and was rightly hooked at half time.

Jérémy Jacquet – 8.0
The France under-21 international was brilliant early on by clearly a goal bound chance off the line and was continually excellent positioning-wise and with each defensive action.
Man of the match
Virgil van Dijk – 7.0
The captain and leader of this team was less inspiring yet did very little wrong. Organisation of his left back took too much attention in the first half and he needs to become more potent on set pieces in these tight games
Ryan Gravenberch – 5.0
The Dutch international was always moving yet did very little to make a case as a regular starter. Okay on the ball, too timid and unsure off the ball. His last season on Merseyside as the midfield Needd drastic changes.
Dominik Szoboszlai – 5.0
The Hungarian international was an attacking asset again tasked with a central midfield role. Lost all his duels and lacks so much of what a double pivot midfielder requires. Needs to be in the ten ot on a flank.
Florian Wirtz – 5.0
The attacking midfielder was guilty of indecision and lacking a final ball, again. These games need a moment of creation and this player is continuing to frustrate a patient support.
Alexander Isak – 5.0
The Sweden international was starved of service and the moments he had came and went. A decent left-footed strike early on and a glancing header at the close were bookends for a flat performance.
Víctor Muñoz – 5.0
The Spanish winger was at times guilty of lacking cohesion with teammates and though he can be a delight to watch, his interactions with those in red may need more attention.

Bradley Barcola – 5.0
The French player was clearly still getting up to speed and showed glimpses alongside new teammates. The time will come when he explodes, and this is a process for the stellar signing.

The starting lineup was adjusted with Rio dropping out for his Spanish teammate, Víctor Muñoz, and surprisingly Ryan Gravenberch coming in for Alexis Mac Allister, with the latter still gaining full match fitness. Kostas Tsimikas displaced Milos Kerkez as firm rotation.
The second-half substitutes were much needed as the stale nature of the game was continually blocked out by the visitors.
