Liverpool to Join the Race for Ferran Torres

According to Ekrem Konur, Liverpool are ready to join Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres.

The 26-year-old is expected to leave the La Liga champions this summer as they continue their pursuit of Julian Alvarez.

 

After already being on the radar of many top clubs, his winner in the World Cup final on Sunday has only rocketed his valuation.

Speaking on X, Konur said: “Liverpool are ready to challenge PSG’s bid for Ferran Torres, scorer of Spain’s winning goal in the World Cup final.”

“Barcelona are willing to sell him to fund Julian Alvarez’s move.”

“Torres has two years left on his Barca contract.”

Why do Liverpool want Ferran Torres?

A move for Torres, at the right price, would make a lot of sense for Liverpool. Torres is capable of playing across the entirety of the front three, adding a level of depth and versatility that is lacking in the current squad.

He would provide the perfect cover until Hugo Ekitike recovers from injury, but also has the quality to step up should Alexander Isak struggle for fitness again.

The biggest question is about how much Barcelona would demand for the 26-year-old. As previously mentioned, his stock has never been higher after Sunday’s winner.

Transfermarkt value him at €50m, and if Liverpool could secure a deal close to that figure, then it would be a brilliant piece of business for a forward who scored 21 goals across all competitions last season.
