Roberto Firmino is back in but Dejan Lovren has missed the cut ahead of Liverpool’s huge Champions League tie with FC Bayern tonight.
Liverpool’s Brazilian number nine arrived at Melwood to mingle with the rest of the first-team squad. Yesterday, Firmino had to train on his own as a precaution to prevent any potential spread of the virus he was suffering from.
This morning, however, as reported by James Pearce in the Liverpool Echo, it seems that Firmino has fully recovered and, as such, should be fit and ready to start tonight against the Bundesliga champions.
Dejan Lovren was still absent and the Croatian international is now certainly out of tonight’s fixture, something we all had expected at this late stage.
With Lovren missing as well as the suspended Virgil van Dijk and the also-injured Joe Gomez, Liverpool’s centre-back pairing is expected to be Joel Matip alongside Fabinho.
As kick-off edges closer, our predicted lineup from last week looks more and more likely to be correct.
There is, of course, the possibility of Naby Keita starting in the middle but I still believe Jurgen Klopp will opt for the more experienced trio of Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and James Milner from the start.
