Jurgen Klopp gave another injury update regarding his Liverpool squad as The Reds continue their quest for a first league title in 29 years when they face Huddersfield Town at Anfield tonight.

The Liverpool boss stated that his team selection for Friday night’s game will not be impacted by the upcoming Champions League semi-final tie with Barcelona next Wednesday night.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Klopp said:

“We had enough time to recover after the last game, we have enough time to recover for the next game. Barcelona has nothing to do with the game on Friday night.”

Dejan Lovren is expected to return to the squad with illness having kept him out of the group that travelled to FC Porto and Cardiff City recently.

However, Klopp was unable to confirm if Adam Lallana, who missed the last five games due to a muscle issue, or Fabinho, who suffered a head injury after coming on against Cardiff, will both be available for selection. The midfielders will face late fitness tests.

When asked about Lovren, Fabinho and Lallana, Klopp said:

“All a bit questionable, we don’t know exactly in the moment. We will have to see today.

“We gave them all a proper rest. Dejan trained yesterday so that’s OK probably and the other two we will see.”

Klopp, when asked about the progress of returning midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, simply said:

“Ox trained, all good.”

Whether Oxlade-Chamberlain will actually see any first-team action this season is still unclear but his recovery appears to be going to plan. However, a full and proper pre-season training regime may be what is needed to get his strength levels up to where they need to be before he plays for the first team again.

Liverpool can return to the top of the Premier League table with a win over Huddersfield tonight, in turn putting the pressure back on Manchester City to win at Burnley on Sunday.

It’s a huge week for Klopp’s mighty Redmen as they also set off for Spain to play Barcelona at Camp Nou in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.
