Sadio Mané insists Liverpool are only going to Madrid with victory on their minds
Liverpool’s in-form frontman, Sadio Mané, says the mood is nothing but positive in Reds’ camp as they step up preparations for their upcoming Champions League final against Spurs.
Jurgen Klopp and his squad are currently in the early stages of a six-day warm-weather training camp in Marbella. Liverpool will be fine-tuning their plans for facing Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side in Madrid on June 1st.
The Reds’ Senegalese number 10 took some time out to speak with Liverpoolfc.com about the atmosphere in the squad as their second successive Champions League final approaches.
When asked about the rest period before the final, Mané said:
“It’s really important because we have been playing every [few days], so it’s good for us to have a few days off. We had that and now we are back looking forward.”
Mané also spoke about the added experience of having gone through this at the end of last season as well.
“We have some experience about it and we know how it is because we were there last year and were unlucky we didn’t win, although Real [Madrid] were very good. We are feeling really, really positive and for us, it would be a big, big thing [to win it]. Tottenham and ourselves are both really young, but we both have lots of experience and have played every kind of game. It is exciting and we want to win it, for sure – everybody knows. We’re not here to think twice about it, we’re just going to go there to try to win it.”
It looks like Jurgen Klopp may well have a full-strength squad to choose from as long as injuries are avoided over the next week and a half.
Roberto Firmino is expected to be back to full fitness while Naby Keita surprisingly made the cut for the Marbella training camp.
Players like Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are unlikely to make the starting lineup due to the risk of further aggravating an injury in Keita’s case and lack of match fitness with regards to Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The bookies have Liverpool as 19/20 favourites at the moment with Spurs priced at 14/5 to win it in 90 minutes.
