Liverpool's Sadio Mane looks to continue improving after his best-ever PL season
Liverpool’s Senegalese frontman Sadio Mané says he is still aiming to improve after he completed his best-ever season as a professional.
Mané earned himself a share of the Premier League’s Top Scorer award with 22 goals in 2018/19, leaving him level with teammate Mohamed Salah and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Liverpool’s number 10 is currently preparing for the African Cup of Nations with Senegal, although he will miss his country’s opening game against Tanzania due to a one-match suspension carried over from yellow cards he picked up during the qualification process.
Mané scored 26 goals in all competitions as he helped The Reds to their sixth European Cup triumph in Madrid on June 1st.
Now, as reported on Liverpoolfc.com, Mané is already looking ahead and will be working on improving his game even further under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
“To be honest, I think I improved a lot in my finishing.
“It was positive because I can say I improved every season, which is important in my development. I will try to work harder and harder to get better and better.”
The pacy attacker was keen to sing the praises of the Anfield faithful too and acknowledged the role such a passionate fanbase plays for the club at all times.
“They played a big part in the season.
“[There were] very difficult games at home and they were always here. Keep on going because we need you! It’s very important.
“It makes the club special and it’s really important. Sometimes it can be a bad day and if the fans give you more motivation, it’s positive for the team and for them as well.”
Mané believes that under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool have created a perfect base to push for honours on a regular basis over the next few seasons.
“We have a great, great team.
“The future can be exciting, for sure. We’ll try to do everything to create something special.”
