Liverpool’s Divock Origi will undergo a scan on the ankle injury he sustained against Newcastle on Saturday according to Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.
Origi needed treatment after going down injured in the early stages of Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Newcastle. The Belgian international striker managed to play on until the 37th minute when he was then replaced by Bobby Firmino.
Speaking after the game, Jurgen Klopp said:
“Unfortunately, Div twisted his ankle early in the game and had to then come off.
“We all hope it is not that serious. That he could play on could be a sign it is not that serious, hopefully, it is like this.
“I think he will have a scan today or whatever and then we will know more.
“Of course, that’s not cool, he is in really good shape, so hopefully they will not find a lot in the scan.”
Klopp was asked if there were any other new injury concerns ahead of Liverpool’s return to Champions League action against Napoli on Tuesday night.
“No, they all got [minor] knocks; Robbo got a knock, Sadio got a knock, but all are fine.”
Origi should undergo his scan early this week and then we will know exactly how long he will be out for. It certainly looks like he won’t be an option against Napoli tomorrow night.
