Liverpool face RB Salzburg at Anfield tonight in the Champions League. Here’s a look at the starting eleven we think Jurgen Klopp might go with for this tough encounter against the Austrian Bundesliga champions.
The Reds got off to a very poor start in Europe this season, losing 2-0 away to Napoli a fortnight ago. Klopp and his team know they have to make every point count at Anfield to ensure progression to the knockout stages.
Alisson Becker is close to being available for selection again but it will still probably be after the upcoming international break before we see the Brazilian between the sticks.
Joel Matip has been ruled out with a slight knock. Chances are Matip would have been rotated out of the starting eleven for this game anyway.
Adrian will continue in goal for Klopp’s side with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson forming the backline.
In midfield, Fabinho will most likely start at the base with Jordan Henderson and James Milner in front of him.
In attack, Divock Origi could get a start after his impressive cameo at Sheffield United on Saturday. This might be the best option for Klopp so he can give Sadio Mané a rest. The Senegalese forward had a slight injury last week so a rest tonight would be ideal for Liverpool’s number 10.
Liverpool’s predicted lineup (4-3-3) Vs Red Bull Salzburg: Adrian; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Milner; Salah, Firmino, Mané
