Liverpool face Napoli in the Champions League at Anfield tonight knowing a win will guarantee The Reds safe passage through to the knockout stages of the competition.
Jurgen Klopp reported on Tuesday that Mohamed Salah and Naby Keita should both be available. Salah missed Liverpool’s 2-1 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday. The Egyptian forward has been recovering from an ankle injury which kept him out of action over the international break. Keita was suffering from illness since the weekend but is back close to full health now.
Joel Matip will miss tonight’s game as he continues his road back to full fitness.
Alisson Becker will start in goals for The Reds. The Brazilian has maintained his full fitness after making his comeback from an early-season calf injury.
The back four will probably consist of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson on either flank with Joe Gomez partnering Virgil van Dijk in the centre.
In yesterday’s match preview, I said that James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would probably start in midfield alongside Fabinho, replacing of Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum. However, as the game draws closer, I now fully believe Klopp will stick with his first choice trio of Fabinho, Henderson and Wijnaldum.
Salah will most likely start in attack with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané.
Predicted Liverpool lineup (4-3-3) Vs Napoli: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mané
