Dave Hendrick and Karl Matchett recently spoke about Napoli midfielder Fabián Ruiz and how his game has developed at Napoli. Both feel that Ruiz would be a great addition to the Liverpool midfield.

The Spain international turns 24 next month. Standing at 6′ 2″, Ruiz adds some much-needed physical presence to Napoli’s midfield and looks like he would have no problem adjusting to the physicality of the Premier League.
Dave spoke highly of Ruiz’s versatility and how he can play anywhere in midfield and be “not just good, but very good”. Dave also highlighted Ruiz’s ability to play in the ’10’ role or even as a winger, when necessary. He believes that Ruiz is one of those players who can be considered the ‘total package’ while still, theoretically, having his prime years ahead of him. Dave said he was “all-in” on any potential signing of Fabián Ruiz and didn’t care what price he came at.
Karl went on to echo Dave’s thoughts on Ruiz, discussing how critical he is to Napoli’s build-up play and described him as a “conduit for them [Napoli]”, regardless of the formation they play. Karl mentioned Ruiz’s physical stature and how he certainly has the capacity to match Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum in that area.
Ruiz played in all four games for Napoli against Liverpool in the group stages of both this season’s and last season’s Champions League.
