Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool side has had five players named in the PFA Team of the Year for the 2019/20 campaign.
Following the news yesterday that Trent Alexander-Arnold had won the PFA Young Player of the Year award, The Reds also had four other players named on the PFA Team of the Year alongside the 21-year-old defender.
Liverpool finally ended a 30-year-wait for the club’s 19th league title success this summer and their efforts have been recognised with Klopp’s men making up half of the outfield players on the PFA Team of the Year.
Joining Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool were Sadio Mané, Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk, and Andy Robertson. It was Henderson’s first time to be part of the PFA Team of the Year and The Reds’ captain can add that to his Liverpool Fans’ Player of the Season award from last season too.
The other four players – Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Robertson and Mané – were voted onto the team by their fellow professionals for the second consecutive season.
Burnley’s Nick Pope was voted in as goalkeeper for the Team of the Year with Çaglar Söyüncü and Jamie Vardy making the cut from Leicester City. Former Manchester City star David Silva joined PFA Player of the Year Kevin De Bruyne in the selection with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the sole representative from Arsenal.
