Liverpool have apparently taken an interest in Ajax defender Perr Schuurs after the young centre-back’s recent performance against The Reds.
Schuurs impressed Jurgen Klopp and the club’s scouting department in Ajax’s recent 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
As reported in the Mirror, the 20-year-old centre-back actually already spent time at Liverpool, on a trial when he was just 17.
Schuurs has already been on trial at Anfield as a 17-year-old and although he impressed it was felt it was better to leave him in Holland with Fortuna Sittard and continue to monitor his progress.
The 6ft 3in stopper whose composure and authority has been likened to a young Virgil van Dijk went on to captain Fortuna Sittard as a teenager before moving to Ajax.
And following the departure of Matthijs de Ligt to Juventus, Schuurs now 20, has earned himself a regular place in manager Erik ten Hag’s side.
The piece in the Mirror goes on to claim that a January bid for Schuurs could be forthcoming from The Reds as they look to get through a full season without Virgil van Dijk.
This could lead to an offer in the January transfer window, especially with other leading clubs becoming increasingly aware of the potential of the stylish stopper.
