Liverpool welcomed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back to first-team action in their emphatic win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Jürgen Klopp will be delighted to have the former Southampton and Arsenal man back in contention in a season of unprecedented injury problems for The Reds.
Liverpool achieved their biggest ever away victory in top-flight history with that 7-0 scoreline against Roy Hodgson’s hapless Eagles.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after the game, captain Jordan Henderson highlighted the return of Oxlade-Chamberlain as a particular highlight from the game.
“Very nice to see Ox back.
“He’s been working extremely hard to get back. Looking sharp again and I thought he did well when he came on.
“So the more minutes he can get, the better really because he’s a big addition to our team.”
Henderson also alluded to the fact that some more Liverpool players could be back in contention over the next few weeks.
“We’ve got a little bit of a break going into the next game but after that it comes thick and fast. So we need to be ready for that.
“Hopefully we can have a couple more coming back from injury or [get] fitness levels even higher. So it’s an important period for us over the next few weeks.”
Thiago Alcântara and James Milner may be the next two Liverpool players to return to full training after prolonged periods out due to injury. After Thiago and Milner, it will be another few weeks before Diogo Jota, Xherdan Shaqiri and Kostas Tsimikas are fully rehabilitated.
Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are both out for most of the season with neither of them expected to return before April.
