Liverpool’s Oakley Cannonier has just signed his first-ever professional contract with the club as a 17-year-old.
What has Cannonier got to do with Liverpool’s famous 4-0 Champions League semi-final win over Barcelona, you ask? Well, he was the quick-thinking ballboy who carried out his task perfectly, getting the ball back to Trent Alexander-Arnold for the whole “Corner taken quickly… Origiiiii!!!” event!
Cannonier has been at LFC since joining as an U12s player.
According to the LFC site, he is:
A skilful forward with good close control and a composed finish, Cannonier has represented England at several youth levels.
Congratulations, Oakley! ✍️🔴

It’s rare that a ballboy ever earns any small bit of fame for carrying out his duties but Cannonier could feel very proud of himself after ‘assisting’ with Liverpool’s fourth goal that night via the quickly-taken corner.
Hopefully, we’ll all get a lot more familiar with his name for his on-pitch achievements with The Reds over the coming years as the youngster pushes to break into Jürgen Klopp’s first team.
Now that he has signed his first professional deal, it could well be that Cannonier plays some part in Liverpool’s pre-season friendlies.
