Luis Diaz
This is a player that can elevate us and bring in moments of quality, that can get us over the line in the coming seasons.
Before signing the former Porto man, he was looking like a recruit that would end up at White Hart Lane. That deal fell apart as soon as Liverpool entered the fray, with a desperation to add the Columbian flyer to our ranks.
Today’s game represented the first start for the Reds, since his injury earlier in the season. His slow integration back into the starting eleven has been an annoyance for many, yet it was worth the wait with today’s performance.
With an ability to fight, dribble, press, and cause mayhem, it allowed him to take the Anfield outfit to an early 2-0 lead. With a Cody Gakpo assist, these two players shone in another new-look front line that could become the first choice for Jürgen Klopp.

As the stats show, his desire to commit defenders (of the opposition side), can take so much pressure from our midfield, especially when they are being outworked. Though this game was far from a success (in terms of overall performance), it does point to how we can expect to set up next season.
With good fluidity and movement from the forward line and attacking midfielders, Luis will be able to roam freely and start getting back to the devastating form that we all adore.
I believe 37-cap international will explode and become our most potent weapon next season come which can help us overcome stubborn low blocks. Today saw our number 23 able to orchestrate and involve himself in so much of what was good. With a good run to take us to the end of the season, players like Trent & Diaz need to be the bedrocks of our evolving patterns of play. With better understanding and movement from the group, we could become a team that simply runs through our opponents.
Today was more about a maverick having his way with an unsure and nervous backline, with a goal that was built upon desire and determination.
Today we saw Cody & Trent enjoy good games, yet today’s man of the match had to be Luis Diaz. We need to see more of this new-look attack with Diaz being given every chance to make that wide-left position his own.
