Liverpool Secures Signing of Rio Ngumoha from Chelsea
Liverpool has successfully completed the signing of Rio Ngumoha from Chelsea, following approval from the Premier League. The highly-rated 16-year-old forward will now begin his journey at Liverpool, adding another promising talent to their youth ranks.
Rio Ngumoha Chooses Liverpool Over Chelsea
After it was revealed in July that Rio Ngumoha had decided to leave Chelsea, Liverpool quickly emerged as his destination of choice. The Premier League’s approval was necessary before Ngumoha could officially make his move, as part of the league’s five-step process for transfers between two category one academies.

New Chapter at Liverpool
Ngumoha, who has signed a scholar’s contract, will initially join Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s under-18 squad. His first match could be against Blackburn Rovers on September 14. Although compensation between Liverpool and Chelsea for training and development costs is still to be settled, it’s expected that a tribunal will determine the final figure.
Pathway to First-Team Football
Liverpool’s appeal lies in the pathway it offers to young players, a key factor in Ngumoha’s decision. He has seen the opportunities presented to players like Jarell Quansah, Conor Bradley, and Trey Nyoni and hopes to follow in their footsteps.
Ngumoha has already made waves in youth football, having been named player of the tournament when Chelsea Under-16s were crowned national champions last October. His talent was further recognised in January when he made his debut for Chelsea Under-21s.
