Liverpool need a striker. Even with Mohamed Salah firing the Reds to the top of the Premier League table this season, the Egyptian has been crying out for some additional support. Throw in the fact that Salah’s summer departure is a real possibility, and Arne Slot will be desperate to replace his undeniable output. Newcastle’s Alexander Isak has been mooted, but the Swede isn’t the only option.
Liverpool should have plenty of targetsÂ
With the Premier League title virtually sealed, numerous top strikers would surely jump at the chance to play for Liverpool. The clubs’ hierarchy will have been acutely aware that a forward player is a priority come the end of the season, with plans undoubtedly already in place. It’s a crucial addition to make, and fans who indulge in the occasional football bet could easily be backing Liverpool’s new man to finish top scorer in the league next season, something Salah himself is being priced at 1/18 to achieve.
Make no mistake about it, turning out for one of English football’s behemoths is an opportunity many top goal-getters will struggle to refuse. As Salah’s goals and assists have proven, service is guaranteed and scoring goals could put Liverpool in the mix when it comes to the biggest of prizes next season. Champions League winner odds are currently pricing European rivals Real Madrid to qualify against Arsenal in their quarter-final clash with odds of 8/13. Unlike Liverpool, though, the Spanish giants have a world-class striker to rely on.
So, with the Reds undoubtedly scouring the market as we speak, below is a look at some potential alternatives to Alexander Isak this summer.
Victor Osimhen
If there’s a big name Liverpool could potentially land in the coming months, then it’s almost certainly Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian frontman is a target for numerous clubs, especially as his loan spell at Galatasaray from Napoli ends in the summer. Liverpool have been mentioned as potential suitors in the past and the lethal striker is said to be keen on a move.
Matheus Cunha

Despite his recent disciplinary issues, Matheus Cunha is hot property. With Wolves battling against relegation, the Brazilian looks destined to move on to bigger and better things come the end of the season. Liverpool is an undoubted step up and it would be a great move for the former Atlético Madrid forward. He certainly wouldn’t need time to adapt to English football either.
Ollie Watkins
A forward who has been consistently scoring goals in England, Ollie Watkins has been linked with Arsenal on a number of occasions. Should he become available, though, then a move to Liverpool would surely pique his interest. The Villa man scored 19 Premier League goals last season and has a number of Champions League strikes to his name this campaign. A proven striker, Watkins knows where the goal is.
Viktor Gyokeres
Liverpool need a consistent scorer of goals, and there aren’t many better options than Viktor Gyokeres. The 26-year-old former Coventry City man is one of the most sought-after strikers around after scoring 43 goals in all competitions in his first season with Sporting CP. Since then, the Swedish goal machine has continued to finish regularly. With reports suggesting the Portuguese giants could be willing to let Gyokeres depart the club for around £50 million, Liverpool could pounce.
